Raising environmentally responsible citizens by nurturing the creative skills of learners through expression of their perceptions and actions towards addressing climate change.

The FLAMA AWARDs tagline MAZINGIRA YETU, JUKUMU LETU is translated as OUR ENVIRONMENT, OUR RESPONSIBILITY in English
The swahili word “Mazingira” means “environment”.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- To nurture and empower learners as agents of change for environmental conservation and climate action.
- To promote an environment centered entrepreneurship culture among learners.
- To positively contribute to the National Restoration Campaign goal to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.

What is FLAMA?
The First Lady’s Mazingira Awards is a learner-centered national annual environment & climate change award.
Who qualifies to participate for FLAMA?
All learners in primary, junior school and secondary schools across the country including learners with special needs.
What is the main objective?
To nurture and empower learners as agents of change for environmental conservation and climate action.
How are the winners selected?
The learner’s entries are assessed by highly qualified education experts from across the country with an inclusion of specialists in special needs education.
How can I be part of this?
The school has to register through the FLAMA link awards.flama.go.ke for any learner to participate
